Project S.A.F.E.
It is estimated that 20 percent of homes in Hancock County lack fire prevention equipment like smoke detectors. Funded by a 2014 TCF competitive grant, Project S.A.F.E. provides free, working smoke alarms to elementary students and educated them about the danger of home fires, how to prevent fires and what to do in case of a fire. Students also received materials to share with their families in order to engage them in fire prevention and emergency planning.
