Dominic Francis Cory Rawson Memorial Scholarship

The Born-Francis Family established this scholarship in Dominic's memory to support a Cory Rawson High School student.
Dom was born in Bluffton and graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1998. He played football at the University of Findlay and graduated in 2002. He served on the Findlay Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Office before joining the Bluffton Police Department in 2011. He was a decorated officer receiving Officer of the Year twice, several letters of commendation, the chief's leadership award, a lifesaving award, and more. He also served as captain of the Southwestern Hancock Join Fire District for several years.
Dom was the strength and conditioning coach, football coach, substitute teacher, and bus driver at Cory-Rawson.
This scholarship will support a graduating senior from Cory-Rawson High School who is a student-athlete. Preference will be given to a relative of a first responder and/or a student pursuing a career in emergency services, including fire prevention, law enforcement or emergency medicine.
Standards for Determining Eligibility
- The applicant must be a graduating senior of Cory Rawson High School in Hancock County, Ohio.
- The applicant must plan to be a full-time or part-time student enrolled for their first year at an accredited technical, two-year, or four-year institution.
- Applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Preference for a relative of a first responder.
- Financial need is not a consideration.
- Preference for students pursuing the following courses of study: emergency services, including fire prevention, law enforcement, and emergency medical.
- Applicant must be a student-athlete.
- Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all the fees normally payable by policy of The Community Foundation will not qualify for this Scholarship.
