Gene and Elaine Stevens Family Scholarship

The Gene and Elaine Stevens Family Scholarship was established by the Stevens family in December 2017 for the purpose of assisting students in pursuit of post-secondary education. Gene and Elaine have two children, Scott and Susan. Both Gene and Elaine came from Henry County from families in the automobile industry. Elaine became a registered nurse, while Gene worked in the service department of a car dealership in Napoleon, Ohio for a couple of years, followed by his years of service in the U.S. Navy. From 1963-1977, Gene worked as a car salesman in Findlay, until he purchased his first dealership. Later, the Stevens opened Gene Stevens Honda in Findlay, which they owned and operated until their retirement in July of 2017.
Standards for Determining Eligibility
- The applicant must be a graduating senior of a Hancock County School.
- Applicant must be a resident of Hancock County and a citizen of the United States of America. Preference may be given to those living in Findlay.
- The applicant must be able to document their participation in church activities and in community/volunteer service through their application and written recommendations.
- Financial need is a requirement.
- Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all of the fees normally payable by policy of the Community Foundation will not qualify for this Scholarship.
