Go Back to Filtered List | Search AgainThe Jackie Klear Massey Memorial Scholarship was established by Jackie’s parents, Dan and Mary Ellen and their daughters Jenny, Stephanie, Allison, and Emily.
Jackie was a graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School, where she was involved in anything musical, show choir, band, and choir. Jackie also attend St. Joseph College in Indiana, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She became a music teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Cedar Lake, Indiana in 2011 and continued there until the time of her passing in February 2019. Jackie loved music and loved to travel. She and her husband, Danny, were always planning a new trip somewhere. She was involved with Student Council at her school and began the Recycling Club. She participated in the Great Cycle Challenge, riding hundreds of miles to raise money for childhood cancer research.
The purpose of this scholarship is to honor Jackie’s memory by providing scholarships to students at the school where she taught music.
Standard for Determining Eligibility of Students
- The applicant must be a citizen of the United States and a graduating senior of Hanover Central High School, Cedar Lake, IN.
- Applicant must have participated in the music program at Hanover Central High School during their senior year.
- Preference may be given to a student pursuing a degree in Music.
- The applicant must plan to be a full-time student enrolled at an accredited technical, two-year, or four-year institution.
- The applicant must have maintained a cumulative 2.5 GPA or above while in high school/the most recently completed grading period.
- The applicant must be able to document their achievements, participation in organizations and volunteer service in the community.
- Financial need is a consideration.
Any student who receives a full scholarship that includes all of the fees normally payable by policy of The Community Foundation will not qualify for this Scholarship.
