Jeanette T. and Leo J. Vielhaber Scholarship
Go Back to Filtered List | Search AgainThis scholarship was established by the family to support the development of professional therapists dedicated to working with disabled children. Leo Vielhaber was instrumental in the development of the Hancock County Society for the Handicapped and was an honorary member at the time of his death in 2004. His special interest in helping the handicapped was the result of having a handicapped son, one of five children. Mr. Vielhaber was proud of his family and cherished the time spent with them. He took his sons golfing; baked cakes for his family members; and cared for his wife, Jeanette, for the last six years of his life.
Leo worked for Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for nearly forty years and believed that everyone should “give back” to the community with whatever time and talent he or she possesses. He was a member of the Findlay Country Club and The Pits Rod & Gun Club. In addition, he was a volunteer in the emergency room at Blanchard Valley Hospital; served as city councilman for the Sixth Ward; served as a trustee for the Betty Jane Center in Tiffin, Ohio; and was active in the Julie Cole Charity Golf Tournament. He will be remembered well for the contributions he made to his community.
