Robert and Clara Shroy Scholarship
Go Back to Filtered List | Search AgainThe Robert and Clara Shroy Scholarship was established by Clara in memory of her late husband, Robert (Bob) Shroy. Bob was a 1938 graduate of Findlay High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. In October 1945, Bob and Clara married in Berkeley, California, before Bob attended the Ohio State University and graduated from the Fisher College of Business in 1949. He worked as General Manager for Hancock Brick & Tile Company and was involved in the startup of Hancor (now Advanced Drainage Systems or ADS), opening distribution centers throughout the U.S. Later, Bob was a partner in Hyway Concrete Pipe Company, before retiring in 1985. Bob worked with Dale Dorney, who is considered by many to be the “father” of the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation and was impressed with his foresight, intelligence and money management skills.
Bob was a member of several business organizations as well as the B.P.O.E # 75, Findlay Lodge # 227 F.&A.M. and The Ralph D. Cole Post # 3 American Legion. He enjoyed weekend camping with family and friends and traveling. He and Clara enjoyed spending their winters in Bradenton, Florida. Robert was also an avid Buckeye fan, having held season tickets from 1946 until his death in September 2014.
