The Robert and Helen McClelland Farm Child Scholarship, established by their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is dedicated to an Arlington High School student who was raised on an operating farm in Hancock County. Robert and Helen McClelland epitomize the meaning of a hard working farm family. Robert was born on the family farm near Arlington, which was land granted to the McClelland family by Martin Van Buren in 1835. Robert was a decorated naval serviceman during World War II. He married a native from Houcktown, Ohio, Helen Jean Parish on September 8, 1946. During their 40-year farm careers the couple raised livestock and farmed over 600 acres. The McClelland’s have three children, Judy McClelland Rower, Jim McClelland and Jan McClelland.

Eligibility

• The applicant must be a graduating senior from Arlington High School who was raised on an operating farm in Hancock County.
• The applicant must be a full-time student attending an accredited university college or a technical/community college.
• The applicant must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• The applicant must be a Hancock County resident and must be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Financial need is a primary consideration.
• Students who receive full scholarship support from other organizations or institutions will not be considered for this scholarship.
